Barbara J. Frye 88 was called home to the Lord on October 7th 2023. Barbara was born at home in West Virginia to Kerman and Catherine Barnes Cross on December 19, 1934.
She is predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 65 years, Jesse E. Frye, who passed away in 2020, two infant daughters, her grandson Michael E. Hough, and her brother David G. Cross.
She worked at Newberry’s Luncheonette for many years and enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family and friends. She was also a member of Middleway United Methodist Church in Middleway, WV. Later in life, Barbara and Jesse moved to Virginia Beach, VA to be closer to their daughter and her family. Barbara enjoyed singing hymns, playing bingo, and participating in many activities.
Left to share in her memory are her daughter Judy Aycud (Rex), grandson Mathew Aycud, her brother Joseph E. “Woody” Cross (Linda), and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday October 27, 2023 at 10:00am at Colonial Grove Memorial Park (3445 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23456).

The Middleway United Methodist Church was saddened to hear about the passing of Barbara. It is within this faith community many loved her and have fond memories as she faithfully continued to serve the Lord. May the Lord comfort you in this time of sorrow.
