Barbara E. Lassiter, 96, of Suffolk, passed away on January 22, 2022. Altmeyer Funeral Home-Riverside Chapel is assisting with the arrangements.

My grandmother, Barbara, was a STRONG woman, and not just physically, but in every way. She taught me to not be afraid of strangers, and to get to know everyone that I could. She taught me to love water, the sun, and everything piece of the world that God created. Some of my favorite memories of her are watching her swim fearlessly at the Lake of the clouds, her power phrase “Good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise”, the smell of her cherry tobacco pipes and her always ready to assist volunteerism, especially making the annual Easter eggs at her church. She is missed by so many, but especially by me.
