SFC Alvin Severin Sr. went on to his Heavenly Father on the 18th of January.  He was born in New Orleans and raised in Cane River, Louisiana, with his three brothers, preceded in death only by Joseph, and survived by Neil Jr., Gerald, and two sisters Patricia and Geraldine. After graduating high school, he went to join his older brother, Joe, in Chicago where after a little too much “fun,” he was drafted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country for 25 years as a decorated soldier, which included two tours in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star, and another 15 years as a contractor for the Department of Defense. He met the love of his life, Kwi Cha, and survived by her after 54 years, while stationed in South Korea. They welcomed a son, Alvin Jr. (Jill) and 4 years later welcomed a baby daughter, Charlotte Ann, along with her son, Jacob Dean. He proudly left a legacy of beloved friends and family on two continents.

A funeral service will be held on January 26th, 2024, 11 a.m., at Altmeyer Funeral Home Denbigh Chapel,12893 Jefferson Ave., Newport News, VA 23608. After which, the funeral family will receive guests at the family home, 35 Sandra Dr., Newport News, VA 23628
