On the morning of August 25, Alice Lee Williams (1932-2023) passed in Newport News, Va after battling a short illness.
She is survived by 6 children, Ethel Terrell (Charles), Terry Laverne Williams, Mack Williams Jr (Patricia Keaton-Williams), Darryl Williams (Roxanne White-Williams), Anthony Williams (Debra), and Velma ‘Gigi’ Williams (Scott Sewell); the father of her children Mack Williams Sr; siblings Martha Lawrence and William Terry; a host of grandchildren/great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Born in Franklin Virginia, Alice was the daughter of the late Ethel Terry Powell and the late Lee Andrew Terry. She was preceded in death by her brother Ulysses Terry.
An alumna of Hampton Institute (now University), Alice had a passion for taking care of people. This led her to attend Dixie Training School for Nurses. This passion followed her throughout her life, and many benefited from her care.
In 1993, Alice retired from the Department of the Army as a civilian registered nurse. She went on to continue to provide nursing care on other jobs and as needed for friends and family. She also spent time traveling to Germany, Egypt, Alaska, and other places of interest. She loved devoting time to her sorority Chi Eta Phi, the NAACP civil rights organization, the National Association of Parliamentarian political group, and of course her family.
She was a woman of unusual ability and determination who gave her family the gift of determination, strength, and love.
