Albert Anthony Mendence Jr., beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was called to rest by our Lord on February 11, 2023 at the age of 91.

Albert was preceded in death by his father Albert Anthony Mendence Sr., his mother Lucille Marino Mendence, his beloved wife Anne T. Mendence, and brothers Robert Mendence, and Donald Mendence.

Albert proudly served in the US Army for 28 years retiring as a Master Sergeant. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. During that time he was the recipient of many honorable awards.

Albert was a lifelong member of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Newport News, Va. where he served on the funeral committee as well as a volunteer to transport members from assisted living to church services and activities. He was a skilled carpenter and made many beautiful pieces. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a beloved dad and pops.

Albert is survived by his loving sons; Gene Boutin, Craig Boutin, and Spencer Boutin (Rene’). His grandchildren; Brianna Boutin, Marissa Boutin, Cody Boutin, Kaylin Boutin, Brandon Boutin (Charleyne), and Taylor Boutin as well as a great-granddaughter, Madilyn Boutin. He is also survived by his special lady, Teresa Gorch.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 6-8 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel.

Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 11:30 am at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church. Interment will take place at 1 pm at Peninsula Memorial Park followed by a reception for family and friends at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church.
