Margaret Jane Douglas LaGard, a devoted mother, loving sister, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2023, in Chesapeake, Virginia. She was born on April 6, 1946, in Roswell, New Mexico. Margaret was 77 years old at the time of her passing.
Margaret led a fulfilling life, both personally and professionally. She dedicated several years of her career as an Accounting Specialist in the oil and gas industry. Her sharp mind and meticulous attention to detail made her an invaluable asset to the companies she worked for.
Outside of her professional life, Margaret found joy and solace in her hobbies. She had a natural talent for sewing, crafting, and crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that brought smiles to the faces of those around her. Before her illness, she took great pleasure in volunteering at her church and brightening people’s lives by sending thoughtful cards.
Margaret was a faithful member of the Discover Church community and had also attained a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA). These accomplishments were a testament to her commitment to personal growth and lifelong learning.
Margaret is preceded in death by her beloved father, James Roger Douglas, her dear mother, Elizabeth Jane Railsback Douglas, and her loving husband, Gary Wayne LaGard. Although she will be deeply missed, Margaret leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.
She is survived by her two sons, Albert LaGard and James LaGard, who were a constant source of pride and joy for her. Margaret’s sisters, Sandra Sutton and Barbara Sooby, shared a special bond with her, rooted in a lifetime of shared memories and experiences. Margaret’s memory will also be cherished by her beloved grandchildren, Kaeleigh, Ryan, Melody, Garet, Noah and Joshua, as well as her great-grandchild, TJ.
