Nikolai “Nik” Yakubeika, age 24, lovingly known as Nik, passed away on July 21, 2023, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was born on February 15, 1999, in Belarus.
Nik was a vibrant soul whose passions brought joy to those around him. He had a deep love for playing video games, immersing himself in their virtual worlds. Music held a special place in his heart, and it was his true passion. Nik not only enjoyed listening to music but also created and shared his own rap songs, showcasing his talent and creativity. Beatboxing was another skill he possessed, which added rhythm and flair to his musical endeavors. Apart from his artistic pursuits, he enjoyed karate. He held a black belt in karate, a testament to his hard work and determination.
Nik attended First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach. He continued his education at George Mason University in Fairfax, eager to expand his knowledge and explore new horizons.
Nik will be deeply missed by his parents, Ina and Aliaksandr Yakubeika, as well as his beloved brother, Misha Yakubeika, additional relatives, and loving friends. Their hearts are filled with sorrow as they navigate this difficult time, cherishing the precious memories they shared with Nik.
Services to honor Nik’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 25th, at Altmeyer Funeral Home – Maestas Chapel located at 1801 Baltic Avenue in Virginia Beach. Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. A ceremony to celebrate his life will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by a reception.
Nik’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His infectious laughter, kind spirit, and talent will be cherished by all whose lives he touched.

Nik was a cool, funny, and all-around upstanding dude. We used to have conversations about our favorite fights from the boxing anime Hajime No Ippo. Those were good times. My condolences to his loved ones. Rest well. ❤️
