Margery Ann (Graff) Lafferty of Virginia Beach, Virginia, formerly of Oakdale, Pennsylvania, was reunited in heaven with her parents, siblings, and her husband of sixty-seven years, Raymond Joseph Lafferty, Jr. on January 29, 2023.
Margery was born February 9, 1932, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to James C. Graff and Gladys (Sickenberger) Graff. Margery is survived by her sister Rosie Lowes of Johnstown, Pennsylvania and her children, Kathy (Gerald) Hupp of Virginia Beach,VA, Sally (Ron) Cord of Pittsburgh,PA, Judy (Ron) West of Birmingham,AL, Raymond (Christine) Lafferty of Suffolk,VA, Kelly Christianson of Virginia Beach,VA and Micheal (Dawn) Lafferty of Oakdale, PA. Margery was a loving sister of James Graff, Jr. (deceased), Doris Reininger (deceased), and Rosie Lowes of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Margery and Ray were blessed to have fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren with one more just days away from joining us on earth.
Margery graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in 1952 with her Registered Nursing Degree. Margery spent her lifetime providing health care to many and led a life of example in her service to others. Margery’s commitment to health, healing and service has inspired a family legacy of healthcare practitioners and caregivers.
Margery and Ray were married at St. Patrick’s Church in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on September 3, 1952. For sixty-seven years the only thing that separated Margery and Ray was the Covid pandemic and Ray’s passing this past August. Their love for and dedication to each other was a true inspiration for all those they have touched over the years. Margery enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed celebrating holidays and special occasions with her large extended family. Her family will cherish memories of vacations with more children than Marge and Ray raised, long summer days enjoying the beach, the hilarity of raising six children, cold holidays skiing in the mountains of West Virginia, and fellowship where all were welcomed.
There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on February 10, 2023 at 1100 a.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 712 Little Neck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23452. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
